The process of creating art is healing in and of itself.

Art therapy helps us connect our inner world of thoughts, feelings, and perceptions to our outer world and experiences.

Being expressive or creating art in therapy is not always about the finished product or meeting any societal standards of beauty or value. You will not be judged by the work you do.

You do not need to consider yourself an artist to benefit from art therapy.

You just need to tap into your imagination which can be easy to do when you feel focused and relaxed. To help you get there, I will lead you in meditation to soothe tension and slow and deepen the breath.

Everyone has the potential to be creative, whether it be in thought, speech, drawing, painting, writing, dancing, praying, loving, or just “being.”

Regardless of artistic ability, creating art has been shown to reduce stress and lower levels of cortisol which plays a key role in your body’s stress response.

Being creative can be therapeutic and cathartic.

Creative expression is about the process. It’s about self-discovery, insight, and allowing space for your non-analytical brain to have a voice and to share its wisdom.
